CUSTOM POLO SHIRTS Collar and Placket Built Under One Roof

Star Faith International manufactures polo shirts for corporate uniform programmes, golf and country club merchandise, and streetwear labels that want a structured collared knit. Because collar, placket and cuff trims are all produced and matched in-house at our factory in Sialkot, Punjab, colour consistency between the body fabric and trims holds across every reorder. Minimum order: 50 pieces per style, per colourway.

What Makes a Polo Different From a T-Shirt

A polo shirt’s structure comes from its knit collar and button placket construction, which is distinct from a woven dress shirt collar. We use rib-knit collars mounted onto a pique or jersey body, with a reinforced placket opening that holds its shape through repeated buttoning and washing.

If you are still deciding between a collared knit and a crew neck for your range, it helps to compare the silhouettes side by side. A polo suits uniform, hospitality and golf programmes where a collar signals polish, while a boxy t-shirt or a vintage washed t-shirt suits streetwear and casual lines where a relaxed, uncollared look is the point

Pique vs Jersey

Pique has a textured, waffle-like surface that hides sweat and wear better, holds its shape well and is the traditional choice for corporate and golf polos. Jersey is smoother and lighter with a softer drape, closer to a t-shirt in feel, and suits fashion-led polos where comfort matters more than structure. The choice affects both the look and the price, so it is worth settling early.

Collar and Placket Construction

Rib-knit collars are cut and attached so they sit flat without curling at the points, a common fault on cheaper polos after a few washes. The placket is reinforced at the base so it keeps its shape through repeated buttoning rather than gaping or stretching.

Fabric, Fit and Construction Specifications

  • Body fabric: Pique or jersey, 180 to 240 GSM, 100% cotton, cotton-poly blend or performance polyester
  • Collar and cuffs: Rib-knit, colour matched to the body or in contrast
  • Placket: Two or three button, reinforced at the base
  • Fits available: Regular, relaxed, slim (custom blocks on request)
  • Standard features: Side vents, double-stitched hems, optional rib-knit or hemmed sleeves
  • Size range: XS to 4XL, custom grading available
  • Minimum order: 50 pieces per style, per colourway
  • Lead time: 12 to 18 working days after sample approval

Performance polyester suits sports and golf programmes where moisture management matters, while cotton pique is the usual choice for corporate and hospitality uniforms. We will recommend a fabric against how the garment is actually worn.

How We Build a Polo Shirt

1. Spec Sheet Confirmation

Fabric, collar style, placket length, button type and trim colours are confirmed on a spec sheet before anything is cut, since trim colour matching is far easier to get right at this stage than after dyeing.

2. Sample Approval

One sample is produced against the confirmed spec for your sign-off, so collar shape, placket and fit are approved on a physical garment before bulk cutting begins.

3. Cutting and Sewing

Body panels, collars, plackets and cuffs are cut and sewn on our own floor, with trims knitted and matched in-house to the body fabric rather than bought in from a separate supplier.

4. Three-Stage Quality Check

Fabric is inspected before cutting, collar shape and placket construction are checked in-line, and every garment is checked again before packing, including button attachment and collar point alignment.

5. Shipping

Orders ship within 12 to 18 working days to any of the 35 or more countries we export to, on DDP terms so import duty and VAT are settled before your shipment arrives, or on FOB terms if you would rather clear customs through your own forwarder.

Branding Your Polo Shirts

Polos are one of the most decorated garments we produce, and the left chest is the standard logo position. Embroidery is the usual choice for corporate and golf logos because stitched branding holds its sharpness through repeated washing. For sports clubs and staff programmes that need names and numbers, team personalization and tackle twill cover lettering and numbering, while sublimation printing suits all-over performance polos with bold team graphics. For detailed or multi-colour artwork, DTG printing is also available.

All of these run in-house, so decoration does not add a second vendor or an extra shipping leg to your timeline.

Private Label and Retail-Ready Finishing

If you are building your own polo range rather than ordering uniforms, our private label service covers woven labels and hang tags and custom packaging, all added before dispatch without changing the standard minimum order, so garments arrive ready to sell or ready to hand out to staff.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between pique and jersey polo shirts?

Collar curl usually comes from rib-knit trims that are cut or attached without matching the body fabric’s tension. We produce and attach collars in-house against the body fabric, so they sit flat at the points and keep their shape through repeated washing.
