CUSTOM RHINESTONE HOODIES Hotfix-Applied in Our Own Factory

Star Faith International manufactures rhinestone hoodies for UK streetwear and going-out-wear brands using genuine hotfix application, stones bonded under heat and pressure rather than glued on by hand. Because the hotfix press sits in the same facility as our cutting tables and sewing lines, stone density, layout and wash-fastness are controlled on your approved sample and repeated across the full run rather than left to a subcontracted decoration shop. Minimum order: 50 pieces per design, per colourway.

Why Application Method Is the Whole Story With Rhinestones

Rhinestone garments have a reputation problem, and it’s earned: a large share of the cheap rhinestone hoodies on the market use glue-on application, where stones are hand-set with fabric glue rather than heat-bonded. Glue-set stones look identical to hotfix on day one and start dropping off within a handful of washes, because glue degrades with heat and agitation in a way a proper hotfix bond doesn’t.

The difference isn’t visible in a product photo. It’s only visible in how the garment performs after the third or fourth wash, which is exactly when a customer complaint lands on your desk, not ours. Asking a supplier directly whether stones are hotfix or glue-applied, and asking to see a washed sample rather than a fresh one, is the single most useful question a UK buyer can put to any rhinestone hoodie manufacturer.

How Hotfix Application Actually Works

Each stone carries a heat-activated adhesive backing. A hotfix press applies controlled heat and pressure through the motif, curing the adhesive into the fabric fibres rather than sitting on top of them. Done correctly, the bond is mechanical as well as chemical, the adhesive partially fuses with the fabric weave, which is what survives a washing machine.

Stone Grade and Why It’s Specified, Not Assumed

Rhinestones vary significantly in facet quality, coating consistency and how well the coating survives washing. We specify stone grade at quoting stage rather than defaulting to whatever’s cheapest, because a dull or discoloured stone after a few washes is a fault a customer will notice even if the placement is perfect.

Why Brands Choose Our Acid Wash Hoodies

  • Base fabric: 320–400 GSM brushed-back fleece, 80/20 cotton-poly or 100% cotton
  • Application method: Hotfix (heat and pressure bonded), no glue-set stones
  • Stone sizes: SS6–SS30 mixed sizing, motif or all-over layouts
  • Fits available: Regular, oversized, cropped (custom blocks on request)
  • Standard features: Drawcord hood, kangaroo pocket, rib-knit cuffs and hem
  • Size range: XS–4XL, custom grading available
  • Minimum order: 50 pieces per design, per colourway
  • Lead time: 12–18 working days after sample approval

Stone-heavy, all-over layouts sit better on the heavier end of this GSM range, a light fleece under a dense hotfix motif can pucker where the heat press has cured a large adhesive area, so we’ll flag fabric weight against your artwork at quoting stage rather than after sampling.

How We Build a Rhinestone Hoodie

1. Artwork and Motif Tooling

Your design is converted into a stone-placement template. For repeat or bulk motifs this means a physical tool that positions every stone identically; for one-off or low-volume artwork, placement can be set manually against a marked template. We confirm which route your design needs before quoting, since it materially affects both price and consistency across the run.

2. Stone Selection

Stone size, colour and grade are chosen against your reference artwork and the base garment colour. Mixed-size layouts (larger feature stones with smaller fill stones) are common on gradient or shaded designs.

3. Hotfix Sample

A physical sample is pressed and, critically wash-tested before bulk production, not just presented fresh off the press. This is the step that actually proves the application will hold, and it’s the step most cut-rate suppliers skip entirely.

4. Bulk Application

Once the sample is approved, the motif is pressed across the full run using the same heat, pressure and dwell-time settings recorded at sampling stage, so stone adhesion is consistent from piece one to piece fifty.

5. Three-Stage QC and Dispatch

Fabric is inspected before cutting, stone placement and press quality are checked in-line, and every garment gets a stone-adhesion check before packing. Orders ship to the UK on DDP terms so import duty and VAT are settled before delivery, or FOB if you clear customs through your own forwarder.

Pairing Rhinestones with Other Finishes

Rhinestone work is often combined with print or embroidery rather than used alone, and sequencing matters here more than on most other finishes. Screen printing and DTG are applied before the hotfix press runs, since the heat and pressure of stone application can distort ink that hasn’t fully cured. Puff print in particular needs to be fully set before any rhinestone motif is pressed near it.

If you’re pairing rhinestones with embroidery patchwork, a rhinestone-outlined chenille letter, for example, the patch is stitched first and stones are set around or on top of the stitched panel afterward. Washed finishes follow the same rule as with patchwork: an acid wash base is washed before rhinestone application, never after, since drum washing will strip stones regardless of application method.

Finishing is completed with woven neck labels and hang tags and retail packaging through our private label clothing service.

A Factory That Wash-Tests, Not One That Guesses

Rhinestone hoodies are one of the easiest products to quote cheaply and one of the easiest to get wrong, because a glue-set sample and a hotfix sample look the same in a product photo. Trading agencies sourcing this product from a third-party decorator often can’t tell you which method was used, and won’t be the ones dealing with the return volume if it fails.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the rhinestones fall off in the wash?

Not when they’re hotfix-applied and heat-cured correctly. Loose stones after a few washes are almost always a symptom of glue-set application rather than genuine hotfix, which is why we wash-test the sample before bulk production rather than approving it fresh off the press.

Hotfix stones carry a heat-activated adhesive that’s pressed and cured into the fabric, creating a bond that partially fuses with the weave. Glue-on stones are hand-set with fabric glue, which looks identical when new but degrades with washing and heat exposure far faster.

50 pieces per design, per colourway, around a quarter of the 200+ piece minimum most trading agencies quote UK brands, which makes a limited drop viable without committing to dead stock.

Yes, with standard care, inside out, cold or warm wash, avoiding high heat tumble drying. We can supply washed reference samples so you can see genuine wear performance before committing to bulk, and washing instructions are included with your private label packaging.

12–18 working days after sample approval, the same window as our other decoration methods. Motif tooling for a new design is completed before that window starts, at the artwork and sampling stage.

Yes. Send reference artwork, a physical garment, or clear photographs and we’ll build a placement template and stone-size breakdown to match it. Exact stone colour is confirmed against a swatch or Pantone reference at sampling stage.

Yes, and it’s a common combination, a printed graphic with rhinestone outlining, or stones set around a chenille patch, for example. Sequencing matters: print and embroidery are completed first, with rhinestones applied last so the heat press doesn’t affect uncured ink or stitching.

We run mixed sizing from SS6 up to SS30, in motif (a defined logo or graphic shape) or all-over layouts. Larger feature stones combined with smaller fill stones are common for gradient or shaded artwork.

Yes, the UK is one of our main export markets. We ship on DDP terms on request, meaning import duty and VAT are settled before your shipment arrives. FOB is available if you’d rather clear customs through your own freight forwarder.

Yes. Woven neck labels, hang tags, care instructions and retail-ready packaging are produced through our private label service and applied before dispatch, so garments arrive ready to sell.
