CUSTOM TANK TOPS Armholes and Necklines Finished Under One Roof
Star Faith International manufactures sleeveless tank tops for streetwear labels, gym and activewear brands and festival merch companies that need a clean, well-finished sleeveless cut. Cutting, sewing and armhole finishing all happen on our own floor in Sialkot, Punjab, so neckline shape and armhole fit hold consistently across every size in the run. Minimum order: 50 pieces per style, per colourway.
Why a Tank Top Is Harder to Get Right Than It Looks
A tank top has no sleeves to hide behind, so the details that a t-shirt can mask are fully exposed. The armhole and the neckline carry the whole garment. Armholes cut too deep gape and show the chest, armholes cut too shallow dig into the arm, and a neckline that is stretched during sewing will sag within a few washes.
If you are still working out which silhouette suits your range, it helps to compare the sleeveless cut against the sleeved options. A boxy t-shirt gives a structured, streetwear shape with sleeves, while a cropped t-shirt shortens the body length. A tank top suits warm-weather, gym and layering lines where freedom of movement matters.
Fits and Silhouettes
We produce regular, muscle, racerback and oversized tank tops, each cut as its own pattern. A muscle tank has a deeper armhole and narrower strap for a gym-led look, a racerback pulls the straps together at the back for freedom of movement, and an oversized tank uses a wider body block for a relaxed streetwear shape.
Armhole and Neckline Finishing
Armholes can be finished with a bound edge, a rolled hem or a raw cut, depending on the look. A bound edge gives the cleanest, most durable finish and holds its shape best through washing, while a raw or rolled edge gives a more casual, worn-in appearance. Necklines are rib-knit or self-fabric and set with controlled tension so they keep their shape.
Why Brands Choose Our Acid Wash Hoodies
- Base fabric: 140 to 200 GSM cotton jersey, cotton-spandex, ribbed knit or performance polyester
- Fits available: Regular, muscle, racerback, oversized (custom blocks on request)
- Armhole finish: Bound, rolled hem or raw edge
- Neckline: Rib-knit or self-fabric, scoop or crew
- Size range: XS to 4XL, custom grading available
- Minimum order: 50 pieces per style, per colourway
- Lead time: 12 to 18 working days after sample approval
Ribbed knit gives a fitted, stretchy tank that holds against the body, cotton jersey suits a relaxed everyday cut, and performance polyester suits gym and sports programmes where moisture management matters. We will recommend a fabric against how the garment is worn.
How We Build a Tank Top
1. Spec Sheet Confirmation
Fit, armhole depth, strap width, neckline and fabric are confirmed on a spec sheet before cutting starts, since armhole and strap changes are hard to make once the pattern is cut.
2. Sample Approval
One sample is produced against the confirmed spec for your sign-off, so armhole shape, neckline and fit are approved on a physical garment before bulk cutting begins.
3. Cutting and Sewing
Garments are cut and sewn on our own floor, with armholes and necklines attached using the tension settings confirmed at sampling stage, so shape holds consistently across the run.
4. Three-Stage Quality Check
Fabric is inspected before cutting, armhole and neckline construction are checked in-line, and every garment is checked again before packing, including a check that armholes sit flat and have not been stretched during sewing.
5. Shipping
Orders ship within 12 to 18 working days to any of the 35 or more countries we export to, on DDP terms so import duty and VAT are settled before your shipment arrives, or on FOB terms if you would rather clear customs through your own forwarder.
Branding Your Tank Tops
A tank top has a narrower print area than a t-shirt, so artwork needs to be sized to the body panel rather than reused from a tee template. DTG printing suits detailed or multi-colour chest graphics, and screen printing suits bold solid-colour designs at volume. Puff print adds a raised texture to lettering, and embroidery suits a small chest or hem logo.
For performance and team tanks, sublimation printing and all over printing cover full-panel graphics on polyester fabrics, and DTF printing handles detailed artwork across different fabric types. All of these run in-house, so decoration does not add a second vendor or an extra shipping leg to your timeline.
Private Label and Retail-Ready Finishing
If you are building your own tank top range, our private label service covers woven neck labels and hang tags and custom packaging, all added before dispatch without changing the standard minimum order, so garments arrive ready to sell.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do armholes gape on some tank tops?
Gaping usually comes from an armhole cut too deep for the size, or from an edge that has been stretched during sewing. We grade armhole depth per size and set edge tension at sampling stage so armholes sit flat against the body.
What is the difference between a muscle tank and a racerback?
A muscle tank has a deeper armhole and a narrower strap for a gym-led look. A racerback pulls the straps together at the back for more freedom of movement. Both are cut as their own patterns.
What is the minimum order for custom tank tops?
50 pieces per style, per colourway, roughly a quarter of the 200 or more piece minimum most trading agencies quote UK brands.
What fabric works best for a tank top?
Ribbed knit gives a fitted, stretchy shape, cotton jersey suits a relaxed everyday cut, and performance polyester suits gym and sports use. We recommend a fabric against how the garment will be worn.
How should the armhole be finished?
A bound edge is the cleanest and most durable and holds its shape best through washing. A raw or rolled edge gives a more casual, worn-in look. We recommend one based on your design and price point.
How long does production take for tank tops?
12 to 18 working days after sample approval. Spec sheet confirmation and sample sign-off happen before that window begins.
Can I add prints or embroidery to a tank top?
Yes. DTG, screen printing, puff print, embroidery, sublimation and DTF are all available and applied in-house, with artwork sized to the narrower body panel of a tank.
Can you make tank tops for gym and sports teams?
Yes. Performance polyester is available for moisture management, and can be combined with sublimation or all over printing for full-panel team graphics.
Do you ship tank tops to the UK, and who handles customs?
Yes, the UK is one of our main export markets. We ship on DDP terms on request, meaning import duty and VAT are settled before your shipment arrives. FOB is available if you would rather clear customs through your own freight forwarder.
Can I add my own brand labels to tank tops?
Yes. Woven neck labels, hang tags and retail-ready packaging can be added through our private label service before dispatch, so garments arrive ready to sell.
